Simon was crouching down so low he almost could not see over the table. Apparently this was his strategy, but today it was not working.
The little round pieces sat silently taunting him. He stared until the checkered pattern of the board danced before his eyes.
Black swirled into white and white into grey.
With a shaking hand he reached out and made the fatal move.
His opponent laughed. One, two, three pieces where whooshed off the board with one skipping white circle. He looked up at the pout that now covered Simon’s face.
“Sorry, pal, white always wins…it’s uncanny.”
