It is a sheepish world out there tonight; quiet like impish faeries hiding from the stars. And the world carries on, heedless of all who rest on its great uneven surface. Yes… heedless. Always heedless until the moment, when fully aroused, the earth creates great tremors to shake the ground causing man’s proudest monuments to turn to ash, winds and rains in anger sweep devastation over all and leave nothing in their wake, fire spews like tangible hate and floods like undulating revulsion. But not tonight. Tonight is quiet and gentle and calm. The world is heedless for the moment.

Mmm, a good change of pace here. A drabble doesn't leave much room for a slow pace, does it?
ReplyDeleteYou've managed to create a brooding, cautious, nerve-wracking, and hauntingly peaceful scene. While this is very dramatic like your other drabbles, it's also very different because the pace is much slower, and different only adds to the already enjoyable experience.
The only small negative occured when I started speed reading (which I do by habit now, grr) and the middle portions started feeling cliche. This writing is definitely meant to be read slowly, because it came off a lot better when I did so!
Overall, excellent work! Keep them coming!! :)
Hmmm...cliche...I do not like cliche.
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions on how I can fix that?
wow! I really liked this one... very nice.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jacob, it is different! I like it though. :) nice work! :D
