Though I am a great king with a mighty army at my call. Though everything I speak becomes the final word. Though I reign supreme over every person and hold their lives in my hands:
I stand before the sea in awe.
No man can dictate where the waves shall crash upon the shores. No one can control the raging waters or calm the frightening gales. The sea listens to no man, the oceans have no master. My armies cannot fight it, my words cannot subdue it. Though I have matchless supremacy, I am utterly powerless before the sea.

They roar above my head, and I cower inwardly. They crash into rocks, and they crumble. They deafen the philosopher's speech, and freeze the artist's eye. They, like I, hold dominion over their lands, but they are relentless, sleepless, undefeated and unwieldy since the beginning of time.
